In the event that a court of competent jurisdiction should find that a consumer complaint constitutes libel or defamation, the consumer/user could be held legally responsible criminally and/or civilly for damages to the reputation of the business mentioned in the complaint. Under the Revised Penal Code of the Republic of the Philippines, COMPLAINTS BOARD hosting the forum is not legally responsible for the complaints that are posted even if the same contain remarks that are defamatory. However, the person who posted the complaints may be held responsible criminally and civilly for the defamation and/or damages resulting there from.

In the event a consumer complaint constitutes a violation of the Consumer Protection Act (Republic Act No. 7394), the mentioned business/product/service could be held legally responsible for criminal and civil liability. Under the said law, COMPLAINTS BOARD is not legally responsible for the complaints that are posted.
